What kind of market is it?

Two figures help describe the balance between buyers and sellers: the sales-to-new-listings ratio and months of inventory. Neither tells the whole story on its own, so it helps to read them together.

The last three months

Recent months side by side. Three months is a short window: figures move with the seasons and from month to month, so this shows recent movement, not a long-term trend.

Smaller markets can move around more from month to month. When the number of sales is relatively small, just a handful of additional or fewer sales can have a noticeable effect on percentages and averages. That’s one reason it’s useful to look at several measures together rather than relying on a single number.

What the September 2026 figures show

Ingersoll's September figures are mixed. Activity picked up compared with a year earlier: 23 homes sold, 43.8% more than in September 2025, and the sales-to-new-listings ratio was 48.9%, up from 32.0%. Months of inventory fell to 3.3 from 4.4.

Other measures suggest buyers still had options. There were 77 active listings, 10.0% more than a year earlier, and median days on market was 38, compared with 24 in September 2025.

With 23 sales in the month, a few more or fewer sales can move these percentages noticeably, so the figures are best read together rather than as a clear signal for buyers or sellers.

These are overall figures for Ingersoll for one month. What you see for a particular home can differ with its location, property type, condition and price range, the other homes for sale around it, and your own circumstances.
